I've got an Acer Spin 5 running windows 10, which came with its own stylus (non Bluetooth, Acer "Active Stylus"). Prior to recent updates, the pen was running relatively normally. After doing the first of a long line of updates recently, the pen stopped working.

Holding the side button or tilting the pen at a writing angle solves the problem. And if I pull out the nib a little bit, it makes the problem more prone to appear. My guess is the Elan digitizer or the pen has not enough voltage to detect or be detected consistently. The stylus isn't working on my Asus Q534. I saw it working on the same computer in the store. Also I noticed that the store computer has under settings/ Devices had a line for Pen & ink, but is not in my settings. The back of the pen works to activate the pop up screen for postit notes, sketch app. but the tip doesn't activate the screen.

My Spin SP513-52N's active stylus won't let me click, draw, or write on anything. I've tried replacing the batteries and the pen nib but it still wouldn't work. I had this problem with my Spin 13 stylus (which doesn't have an internal battery, BTW), Google searched, and found an unexpected but effective solution: bang the stylus on the table. My acer active stylus model is: NC.LDS11.015 (bought in Singapore, it came with the Spin 5). On and off the stylus stops working, I can't draw or click anything with it every now and then. I've changed the batteries but it doesn't help. Also, having trouble changing the nib of the stylus, would that help? It got so short that I cant remove it.

If your keyboard stops working, it is possibly caused by the keyboard drivers. Go to "Device Manager," then scroll down and click "Keyboards". If there's an exclamation mark by the default laptop keyboard, then Windows has detected a problem. Right-click the keyboard, click "Uninstall device", then reboot your PC. Sounds like the internal battery of your stylus is dead. This is quite normal and typical behaviour for a dying battery. It is time to replace the cell or get a new stylus. However I assume that the pen is thinner than a normal battery, so it must have an integrated battery and these are almost impossible to remove without destroying the stylus. According to this MobileTechReview review of the Acer Spin 5 SP513-53N-53Y5, it comes with an MPP (1.0) pen, so you can use any MPP pen (1.0 or 1.51 or 2.0). The Acer pen compatibility chart doesn't differentiate between the SP513-53N and SP513-53N-53Y5 so they probably support the same pens. 1. level 2.
